I am currently "in the dunes" on the coast: maybe the dune grasses are an idea? They are known to withstand everything :)

Bamboo especially does not like too much sun in winter.

As a privacy screen, there are also planted walls. Evergreen is the classic, namely ivy, and in a pot it can't do too much damage either. These privacy screens are already available ready-made to buy. So you don't even have to wait until the privacy screen is there. For example, check out Garten Bronder, they also offer it online and with different plants (not all keep their leaves over winter).
We have also considered that, I think it looks quite nice, doesn't take up too much depth, and you can even buy plant containers on wheels and then move the privacy screens to wherever you need them at the moment.

Remember to make the privacy screen planter planting windproof. No matter what you plant, it will need care - water, cleaning, occasional weather protection... I also really like bamboo.

It's amazing what is already growing and blooming elsewhere
Here, the first buds and leaves are just starting to show on the shrubs. Flowers – apart from those that were planted as whole plants and have survived our weather – are out of the question.

Some time ago, my wife sowed a "flower meadow" – a narrow strip next to our terrace. So far, only a few millimeters of an undefined green "something" can be seen  With a bit of imagination, you can spot it in the picture to the right of the table. The photo is from last night. She is also bravely trying her hand at a herb bed, visible in the picture to the left of the table.

We recently visited a garden center to inquire about ground covers, etc. We need something really hardy, preferably for permafrost soils. Among other things, the "Fette Henne" came up. They recommended first removing the wood chips and enriching the soil with a so-called soil activator. Then planting some ground covers per square meter and hoping they feel comfortable.

Moreover, for the first time since moving in in January 2020, I mowed the lawn :D For our lawn, I got the City Mower 18 from Bosch.

The little guy had quite a bit to do but did a brave job. Since I now intend to regularly take care of the lawn, the grass won’t grow so tall in the future. If he ever bites the dust, I will probably choose a somewhat bigger model.

This brings me to the question of whether there is a grass shear for the 18V battery that is built into the mower. So far, I haven’t found anything. Does anyone perhaps know about this?

Here is something from us as well. As a privacy screen towards the neighbor after 1 year. The plants were all under 1 meter when we bought them, the piece cost 10 euros.

Here is the privacy screen towards the bike path after 17 years.

how can you rotate the picture?
