Yes, as I said, except for the little trees, newly planted / sown things are not watered at all with us and it is still green and nice, the neighbors water half the day and yet the thujas are dying for the third time and the lawn looks yellow.

Site-appropriate with native plants this usually works well – and if the perennials do not survive the summer, they sprout again the following year. For me, everything is insect-friendly, but not everything is native. I want to get to about 90% native species. With invasive plants I pull them out immediately.

I can always recommend NaturaDB, a great database for choosing plants.

With insect-friendly mixes, unfortunately caution is advised, many are not native plants and only provide food for generalist insects. But nothing for the offspring, which almost exclusively depend on native plants. I always recommend using regional seed, something you can buy at Tausende Gärten Tausende Arten.

Then lots of success with your garden, it already sounds really great. I’m still waiting for a hedgehog :)

Great tips, thanks for that. :)
And, I don’t want to brag, ;-) but imagine, we even already have a hedgehog. I recently saw it running quite fast. However, that is more thanks to our neighbor, who has almost something like a hedgehog station and always feeds the hedgehogs during lean times. According to her, they nudge the glass of the patio door when the bowls are empty.

I recently sent two suggestions to Natura DB because they encouraged that so convincingly in the P.S. of their newsletter. :)

Thank you, also for the tips, I didn’t know some things yet. I saved both websites directly. NaturaDB is really practical!

You have everything in good shape at your place! Even the tomatoes turned out well. :) Mine are late and have split from the rain. Oh well, not too bad, I’m still a beginner. Accordingly, my garden looks like that too. :D

The ground cover plants I planted all let me down. I need to come up with something for next year. Now it looks a bit bare in the front. If anyone has ideas for low-growing plants, flowering, colorful, and happy with partial shade (east-facing garden), I’m happy to hear your suggestions.

GREAT Here in the Mühlviertel, we are almost 4 weeks behind with harvesting the tomatoes. I keep wondering, when I see your garden pictures, how you manage all the work. Do you also go to work? Do you have help with planting, watering, harvesting, and processing?
