Yes, as I said, except for the little trees, newly planted / sown things are not watered at all with us and it is still green and nice, the neighbors water half the day and yet the thujas are dying for the third time and the lawn looks yellow.
Site-appropriate with native plants this usually works well – and if the perennials do not survive the summer, they sprout again the following year. For me, everything is insect-friendly, but not everything is native. I want to get to about 90% native species. With invasive plants I pull them out immediately.
I can always recommend NaturaDB, a great database for choosing plants.
With insect-friendly mixes, unfortunately caution is advised, many are not native plants and only provide food for generalist insects. But nothing for the offspring, which almost exclusively depend on native plants. I always recommend using regional seed, something you can buy at Tausende Gärten Tausende Arten.
Then lots of success with your garden, it already sounds really great. I’m still waiting for a hedgehog :)
