So for us, these are the Toro Mini-8 gear-driven sprinklers (flow rate: 3-12.9 l/min). The irrigation pump sets the system to 3.5 bar. Overwatering only occurs in very few spots, but certainly not on the brown edges. These are, as shown in the picture, (almost) directly at the edge near the curb.
The system was planned and put into operation by a landscape gardener.
But the landscape gardener planned it poorly (in terms of positioning) if the sprinklers don't cover each other. The sprinklers themselves are good and with 3.5 bar are probably adequately sized. The sprinklers have significantly lower precipitation in the near area (at the sprinkler) and the farthest area. Hence the overwatering. At the edges, you have to extend their reach a bit so that enough water reaches the edge.
If you have sandy soil, you obviously need to water more often, but try 3 x 30 minutes per week or even only 2 x 40. Start depending on duration and number of zones in the early morning hours.
At the edges, I would try to let them spray further outward.
The lawn will never be perfect if you don’t invest all your time in it...
