Not wanted: Norland fir, spruce… But I must also admit: I would prefer other trees if I wanted to plant a garden ;)

We also live in Domherrengarten, so I don't have to build a cathedral, nor keep all my men living here :P

One spruce does not make a forest...

I am sure the etymology of the place name is quite different:
Fichten = Germ. to fight (cf. Engl. Fight)
Walde = Germ. to rule
So, where the fighters rule...

Alternatively: Where the Waldis fight, that is where dog fights used to take place.

Which brings us back to the willow I recommended, because as the amateur historian with popular scientific education knows, the ancient Germans held honorable duels between willow rods.

So, plant yourself a willow!
