It’s not really new. That’s marketing. It is simply evergreen and climbs. Otherwise, it has little to offer ecologically. If it doesn’t have to be evergreen, native honeysuckles are better.I can hardly believe it, and maybe you can’t either, ;-) but I might be able to top all previous recommendations:
Lonicera similis var. delavayi
I first planted two specimens in August last year to see if and how they stay evergreen through the winter and have now ordered four more plants. According to current planning, these will not be the last.
It is referred to as a "novelty," although I don’t know how to interpret this designation. Please feel free to write to me about the disadvantages of this plant, as it seems perfect to me so far.
