I ask my wife or feed the picture into the common AI. The latter works 50% of the time but gives a pretty good direction. I know a few things myself - the term "knowledge" fits there. Whoever knows something doesn't have to guess. Whoever only guesses, only has knowledge.

I have had great experiences with the app Flora Inconita. It identifies all kinds of plants. Not only in the garden but also while hiking. It’s also fun for the children and they get to go on a discovery tour while hiking.

I also think that such a "well-kept" lawn has its charm. Absolutely. What seems far more important to me is that the number of insects around us is already "gone" by half and that our own behavior is partly responsible for the state of the world. ... and just as important: When we talk about something like this, it doesn’t help if it doesn’t help. I would be happy if I could convince someone that we normal people should do everything to live environmentally friendly. If very many private individuals act consciously in this regard, it will change something. (I believe so ;)) And a flower meadow has charm too

I have found a compromise for this: Something for my well-being and a lot for nature. In other words, a somewhat short meadow that can also contain "weeds," but must stay short because I want to walk on it. A few non-native plants because I also want to have greenery in winter. Otherwise, lots of meadow consisting more of "weeds" and it can also grow tall sometimes. Many shrubs and plants for our insects.

I also think a garden can be a mix of "only for humans" and "only for flora and fauna." Although an "only for humans" area can also be designed and maintained ecologically in different ways. In our place, chaos reigns—which is also due to lack of time—and slow worms have moved in. I wouldn’t have any time for precise pruning. Ornamental plants only get water when they are close to wilting. That usually happens after a few weeks without rain. The "only for flora and fauna" area predominates—I also have a steep slope.

Our garden is not particularly large, but it does have areas with more and less maintenance. Mostly due to time constraints with 3 children. Here are a few impressions of our many roses and other flowers. We also have plenty of useful plants for ourselves in the garden and raised beds... recently counted and came to 14 permanent things (berries etc.) and 13 annual vegetables, partly with several varieties. My husband really blossoms in the process.
