Do you need LAN cables in the garage?

Oh man. You already know that you have a need and don't prepare for it. Switch reduces the performance since it is only connected via one line. This will probably not be a problem for you. But it also costs money and requires power. I'm out of here. I hope the house construction is going well.

That's why you think about something like that beforehand and include it in the construction description as long as you can still go to another provider. Now it's just the phase of "take it or leave it"

Yeah sure, but you can't expect someone else to make a personal decision for you. The range of opinions has already been expressed here, now the OP has to consider whether to adapt the number of sockets to their needs or their needs to the number of sockets they can afford. For my part, I have an HDMI cable (about €5 as Amazon Basics) connected to my TV which I plug into a laptop that gets the movie from the internet via WLAN. Maybe not the most elegant solution, but it works great. (As an upgrade, at some point it's planned to replace the laptop with a mini PC.) For linear TV there is a second cable that connects the TV to the cable connection. Although I haven't used it at least since the last channel reshuffling...
