Cable vs. Telecom Fiber Optic - Decision

That is currently holding me back from Magenta TV.

I have nothing against the app, but honestly, I find it a bit cheeky that using the app costs extra. But of course, they also want to sell/rent their fancy Magenta receivers. :rolleyes:

I also wonder why an IPv4 address is still so important for certain applications. That only shows that IPv6 is not being pushed enough. In my impression, it simply hasn't reached everyone's minds yet. Edit: by minds I mean the industry.

if you switch off IPV4 only within Germany, the lights will go out. And I mean that literally! I myself expect it will take at least 20 years until we reach IPv6 in the deepest corners of industry, even though the last IPV4 addresses were recently distributed (assigned) worldwide.

The current "tariff" includes the app. I just don't know if that's a real added value. I haven't looked into it in detail yet, but I believe time-shifted viewing and recordings are not possible with it. Sure, a receiver sounds bad at first, but I don't think that's a bad thing; by now, all streaming platforms are available through the receiver. That way, you can save yourself other devices if you want to use those services.

A cable (DOCSIS) connection is like a poker game. You never know what you will end up with. I currently have the choice between DSL100 and DOCSIS1000. I have never regretted choosing DSL, especially when reading about the problems with cable connections. If you have the option of an FTTH connection, always choose that!
