Or eight as well, if you wire it exactly as shown in the picture. In very simple terms: each participant needs their own cable from the multiswitch. Regardless of whether it is a TV for watching or another device for recording. Or even a TV with a dual DVB-S tuner which can do both.

So yes, watching 1x cable, simultaneous recording 1x cable. In total 2 cables at this point (whether in the living room or elsewhere).

We also had satellite TV installed during our renovation. Although I think that the trend is moving further and further away from linear TV; currently, there are still use cases (e.g. live events).

We then had a star wiring installed, which follows the following setup:

In the living room and in the attic, we even had a total of four double sockets installed so that you could watch one program and record another one in parallel. (We probably will never use that though ;-))

The Quattro LNB allows you to watch independently on each connection regardless of the others. The multiswitch is receiver-powered and does not require an extra power supply. It looks like this in our setup:

The only important thing then is to remember the potential equalization, grounding, and UV-resistant coaxial cables (outside). But a good electrician should naturally take care of that.

The components cost us a total of 942 euros gross. Of course, the electrician’s labor costs are additional.

In addition to the solutions outlined here, there is also a partial solution for supplying 2 parallel Sat-RX inputs, if you want to record 1 and watch another program at the same time. You can connect the 2nd RX input to a single end socket via a specialized signal splitter. It blocks the supply/control voltage and the 22 kHz control signal on the 2nd slave connection. This way, you can receive all channels of one Sat band simultaneously. This is less restrictive than one might initially assume, since the ASTRA operator has already taken into account the allocation of channels to the respective bands (upper/lower band, H/V polarization) (see Lyngsat.com). There is indeed a reduction in selection, but in many cases it is hardly noticeable. This is particularly suitable for retrofitting without having to change anything in the existing installation.

Depends on the location but with 80cm most things are usually covered.
