Of course, I have already invested quite a bit of time into this, and since the next Ikea store is not exactly around the corner for me and a "regular solution" is probably more effort than finding my own, I thought I would take the dishwasher out again and simply shim it up. So I would measure the gap at the top and place the entire dishwasher on a suitably thick board, then screw it at the top to the countertop with brackets to keep it stable when pulling it out. Is there anything against that? As long as I keep it level, it should be able to fit relatively close under the countertop, although to my knowledge there were also spacers that I would of course take into account.

Why don't you simply do without the Vaglig rail and mount the front - as also intended in the instructions - directly on the dishwasher?!

I did that right at the beginning, before I even understood the rail. But it was such an unstable affair, or at least it didn’t seem nearly stable enough to survive long in a holiday apartment. The door always "sticks" a bit and you have to pull it with a certain jerk, and in my view the solution with the plastic holders and small brackets was not designed for that. The rail solution seems much more stable to me.

But there aren’t any things that I fail to see due to inexperience (temperature, or similar) that speak against the described, pragmatic solution, or?

As far as I could gather from the instructions, the brackets and plastic tabs are installed with the rail as well, so I don't see any difference there in potential breaking points for now.

As for your idea: I am also inexperienced but don't see any major problem at first. Have you already pushed the feet to their limit?

Oh yes, the construction with the rail is a completely different matter in terms of stability. At the beginning, I wondered how the version without the rail could hold up for a few years. Just the combination of short screws and pressboard made me nervous. And then you don’t know who will be pulling on it in a vacation apartment. I will probably go with the pragmatic high-stand solution...

Thanks for your ear, your time, and your feedback!
