We bought in January because we needed the installation plans for the [Bemusterung]. The positioning of the (finished) house is July/August.

Normally, the drainage plan is submitted with the building application. It should already be clear where the wastewater pipe will be installed in the kitchen. GU, GÜ, and BT prefer to have this once the kitchen plan is finalized. In our case, it was requested by the GÜ, so the kitchen was the first thing in our house planning. 11 months before the house handover, that is. This is common practice. However, you should ask your BT and not just copy everything from the neighbor.

It is certainly not stupid to buy or at least plan the kitchen early. Whether it has to be over a year in advance is of course questionable. Buying too late is also not good, as kitchen manufacturers do have delivery times... often even two months. There are always offers... they are always equally bad or good... no one ever thought "yes, in April 2016 we will reduce the profit margin to 0%".

We also bought our kitchen last year in March and it will be installed in May. We practically planned our house around the kitchen. It was a display kitchen with a glass front and a large island and I fell in love with it immediately.

We do not want to imitate the neighbor. I was surprised that something like this is possible or, according to the feedback, is apparently normal. What if this kitchen line, color, cabinet type, countertop, etc. is no longer in the program in 12-16 months? I can think of 1000 things that can go wrong, up to the extreme that the factory burns down (I know it’s far-fetched, but the fire at the Wiesenhof factory shows that it is possible).

Therefore, I was surprised that choosing and paying a deposit today and having it built in X months is normal.
