I clearly question the better equipment here. What exactly are you comparing, between the price of IKEA and the offer of a kitchen builder.? One thing is fact, the quality of the furniture from a kitchen builder and that of IKEA cannot be compared, because there are significant differences. This is already reflected in the price.

The differences already start with the quality of a carrier board. MDF is not equal to MDF just like chipboards. Then the coating, here too there are differences. Foil, coated foil, paint layer with different processes, HPL, CPL, veneer (there are also differences here), the type of edges and their processing play a role. It continues with the fittings, here too some differences. This can be continued indefinitely. For these reasons alone, the comparison cannot be made. To be able to make a comparison, everything, absolutely everything, must be exactly identical. Even then, if it succeeds to get all the parameters together, every studio or furniture store must calculate differently, just like the kitchen cabinet maker must do differently. Mind you, I do not want to badmouth Ikea kitchens. If you can do without some things, the kitchens are certainly not wrong. Yes, if IKEA's quality is not enough for someone, I can understand that. I have had one myself and have also assembled one. And I have also ripped out a very old Faktum, which held up more than well. I can live well with that.

No one would ever compare a Porsche with a Golf station wagon. It’s also not possible. The question of the OP was whether IKEA kitchens are any good. And yes; from my point of view, they are good. I and others for whom I assembled a Faktum (the oldest is now about 12 years old) have not regretted it to this day.

Because you had *one* offer - what exactly, brand? Carpenter? - you can’t say anything absolute about prices... we had demolition companies for €20K and ones for €5K.

But aren’t these equipment features? And if I order a "normal" looking kitchen at Ikea or someone else, the price should be comparable. Sure, if the edges are more elaborate, etc., the price can be higher.
But isn’t that the case – where does the price come from?
