We had -5 degrees at 7 a.m. this morning. Totally crappy weather. Total house consumption actually doesn't matter as long as the sun is shining. Fortunately.

Today the gas bill for 2020 21 arrived, previously the one for electricity. Electricity 1900 kwh, gas 9300 kwh, both per year. I don’t know if that is great, but I am quite satisfied. Gas thus costs 500,- per year, electricity around 600,-, so we calculate energy costs at around 100,- per month. We only produce hot water using solar. That is consumed ourselves. Nothing is sold. We are two people and live in an energy saving ordinance bungalow made of solid Ytong with about 110 sqm living space.

Electricity consumption sounds great, I used to consume that much when I was still single :-) 28 euros a month... but for the gas for 110m2, it sounds like there is still potential, but that would probably be too much of a good thing.

Here also 1100 € p. a. for electricity incl. heat pump for heating. + hot water. So from a purely financial point of view, it was the wrong decision to choose heat pump and photovoltaics instead of gas; photovoltaics with battery was about 18 k. It is a very nice but quite expensive toy.

Wait and see, after the oil is gone, gas will be next. I suspect a doubling of costs in the next 10 years.

And do you really believe that electricity will get cheaper? A heat pump almost always loses against gas or pellets in consumption. In terms of investment, only compared to gas, pellets are the most expensive. No one knows the future, the only certainty is: everything will become significantly more expensive.

We currently have 1200 euros for household electricity and 1000 euros for the heat pump, so energy costs of just under 200 euros per month. The trend is rising, as we still want a freezer, additional e-cars (I really want a fun car with real power..) and a whirlpool. :D

On the other hand, we have reduced the costs for oil, gas and petrol/diesel to 0 euros. We were also able to completely get rid of one car. :)
