The purchasing strategy of many companies is, in my opinion, wrong. Actually, they would have to compare the purchase prices of their components with those of the service calls during the warranty period. In the case of a sensor, where the buyer might save 10 cents, there are often service calls costing 300-400 euros. And that for a part that costs them about 1-3 euros.... But I am also somewhat biased :p
