Is the surcharge for an air-to-water heat pump justified compared to gas?

I would also strongly assume that electricity will become more expensive. But with photovoltaics plus storage (which of course also costs money :) ) maybe bearable. I would definitely not install gas in 2022 anymore (even if the EU calls gas and nuclear power “ecological“ ;) ) When it comes to heat pumps, consider maintenance costs etc., they don’t even last 15 years. We just had the big round with the heating installers. No good reports are issued regarding durability. It’s just a big hype. That’s why maybe gas after all? Whoever has the choice :)

Sorry, but personally I wouldn't bet on gas anymore. If well designed, you might consume around 2500-3000 kWh of electricity for heating energy.

If in doubt, I would take out the heating and outsource it myself. That is a cheeky markup for a reversed refrigerator. Good heat pumps are already significantly cheaper for end consumers. Cost-neutral would already be a rip-off, since for example any potentially installed chimney would also be eliminated.

Can you explain that further?

The prevailing opinion was that a normal standard air-water heat pump lasts 10-20 years. However, the 20 years is not reached because most people never maintain their heat pump. With actually regular and professional! maintenance, they also last 20 years. But by then a new one is due at the latest. Of course, you have to take that into account cost-wise. Geothermal heat pumps are better, that can be done. They last up to 30 years and also have lower operating costs.

Yes, I know that too. Maintenance is rarely done and the devices are worn out at the latest after 20 years. If they haven’t already given up before then.

At a hefty surcharge. If I were BU and knew exactly that heat pumps are in, I would also take gas as standard, fully aware that most do not want it, and then charge a lot to sell heat pumps. That's how the market works.
