Very interesting draft, thanks for that. I have already moved away somewhat from the open gallery, but I think there should be a hallway etc. so that one can get to the double casement window we are planning there. Maybe a cupboard/shelf etc. can fit, but a desk does not have to be there. In your solution, I don’t like that because of the width of the stairs/hallway the bathroom on the upper floor is very narrow. I also don’t know if the chimney isn’t too far from the center of the house; it will probably need to be extremely high or have additional support etc. In itself it is a good idea to have the chimney in the adjacent room, but you still have to consider if the position isn’t too unfavorable.

Oh, now not after all.
The bathroom has over 11m² of floor space at 3m x 3.80m, although you can only use the pre-wall for the toilet and tub as a shelf. Still, I would consider the word narrow an insult to all those who have a bathroom of e.g. 7m². But okay.
That’s so confusing. You want to support the chimney? How and why? It’s not central enough? Huh? You want it right under the roof ridge? Which position would be more favorable?

Don’t get me wrong. It’s totally fine if someone says no, I find that ugly. I’d rather have it like so and so. However, your line of thought is hard to follow. Once with a desk, then without again. Chimney here and chimney there. When the real architect comes, you should definitely pick out the essential points. If they hear three times yes please that too and later April fools – better not, they get annoyed and leave. Maybe you should make a ranking of which points you absolutely want and which are lower priority. Because implementing everything will surely be difficult and you might have to give up something.

Besides, everyone is still waiting for your upstairs.

Yes... maybe you’re right... it’s not that small. But because of the 3m width, you have very little usable space on the gable side/inside wall, but a huge empty space in between. Something like 3.5 x 3.5 m would be better. But that’s complaining on a high level

I’m not a chimney builder either, but at the moment, the chimney is about 60-70 cm away from the roof ridge. According to regulations, it must protrude 40 cm above the ridge. That means the visible part above the roof will be about 1m, which can look a bit odd, don’t you think? The closer it is to the ridge, the less chimney you see... and above a certain height, it must be supported against storms, etc., because the exposed area is very large.

I have always said that I wanted the chimney as close to the center of the house as possible; that was also the case in my first draft and all further drafts. Of course, I don’t mind if it goes somewhere else for better room planning, but it still has to fit, see the text above. Unfortunately, I’m not an expert in this.

You’re right, I shouldn’t confuse him. As you suggested, I will prioritize what’s important.

I have calculated and drawn the chimney. I find it quite normal now. However, it's pretty crazy to make so many decisions dependent on the chimney / stove. One might almost think you actually only need a tent and a fireplace with a chimney.

Here again the U-staircase with chimney more towards the ridge as well as bathroom and bedroom enlarged. Storage upstairs smaller. Instead, 4.50m wardrobe in the bedroom. Children’s room exactly 14m² floor area. Additionally 3.50m wardrobe in the guest room + 2m wardrobe in the hallway. Would not really see a gain in space or usefulness compared to the L-staircase variant. Curious to see if the architect can get more out of it here.

3.5 x 3.5 is fine, with 3.0 x 3.8 you start to complain!
12 sqm with built-in cabinets is too small, but 13-something is okay.

And then everything will be built around the chimney, which probably won’t fit into the budget anymore anyway with a pressure switch and so on?

If I were you, I wouldn’t lose focus and would create a definitive written room program. This wavering can silence even the most patient user here.
@kaho’s patience is remarkable.
Actually, it’s needed in another discussion [emoji12]
