I have always involved her. But she assumed that the table wouldn’t be placed so far into the room. Of course, this only applies to larger table lengths (that is, 1.8 m or more; with a normal seating for four, so about 1.2 m length, everything should be no problem). That put her at ease at first. Of course, I would have liked to have plenty of surrounding space with larger table lengths as well, but that is probably hard to achieve with any floor plan unless you have a huge living room. Or if I had reserved more space here by moving the piano, etc. But it is what it is, and how it looks and behaves in the end you only see once everything is furnished.

I’m only annoyed now because a larger sliding door or something similar could have been realized at that spot, with fewer follow-up problems from the exit, etc. With a smaller fireplace, for example, the piano would have easily fit next to the living room door. That’s just how it is when you get so fixated on certain things; you easily become blind to other possibilities. But the current layout is also okay and cozy.

1.2 is the minimum for two people - it’s no longer cozy, just tight. But it works.

For a 4-person table, I would recommend at least 150cm in length.
You are in a house - I simply find it inappropriate to have such a table in a huge cabin as you have to accept it in a rental apartment due to lack of space.

Allow about 70 - 80cm width per person at the table, then you can also use chairs with armrests and the table really becomes a meeting point where you like to sit because it’s comfortable.

120 cm for a family table ops:?

Which side is being slid open ... the right side of the sliding door? ... That is of course impractical.

Yes, you are right, as a "standard" table I would probably also choose more - our current rental apartment table is exactly 1.2 m.
With more people you can also extend it and change the seat width.
