Thanks for asking: it’s getting better. Still, I keep noticing things in everyday life that could have been better. Especially the window situation. Maybe I ignored many things back then during the planning or simply other things were more important to me. I really find it a shame now how much focus (also in construction books) is placed on things like material or KfW xx, although in the end it actually doesn’t matter at all. That just makes people unnecessarily stressed and distracts from the really important things: creating a livable, sustainable floor plan. Above all, placing a lot of value on “special places” – how much I would now give for a living winter garden, a balcony, a roof terrace, etc. – it’s the many different places that I miss. And I also miss floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere in the house – the floor plan is very closed off to the outside. When you build a house, you should create something great, unique. Unfortunately, I don’t have that.

Presumably, it is difficult to write about abstract things. Comparing material is easy. Writing a guide on how to determine personal needs and from that "my house" emerges is a different ball game.

On baulotse-hoffmann (de) I at least try. My stone mantra is already well received and I have decided to extend it to tiles etcetera as well. But to write abstractly about how a house gains a special touch from a zigzag wall whether or not there is a piano is indeed not easy. A five-part series has just started explaining to prospective builders how they can derive their planning schedule from the HOAI service phases. And I just realize that I have not yet "tackled" the topic "Avoiding drywall surprises in downpipe planning." By the way, I do not consider having a window sill on the sofa side instead of a floor-to-ceiling window at the back a mistake—apart from the docking point for the later conservatory.

Perhaps this would be a pretty good tip:
"Look at many houses, preferably on Instagram or from expensive home builders – what overwhelms you, what amazes you, try to replicate or adopt as much as possible for your own planning."
I think one should actually get ideas from architect-designed houses, etc., instead of looking at the musty standard houses of the cheap prefab house providers and incorporate their great ideas into the standard designs.

That will not make you happy. Many things look wow, but are still not practical or the B'Plan, the money speaks against it.
