I would strongly recommend making sure that the windowsill runs either completely below all the steps or completely above them. If it is entirely below, you can let the molding run into the recess, and it hardly shows that the sill is right underneath.

But as soon as the windowsill is only partially at the height of one step and partially under the next higher one, it looks awkward.

My aunt also has the steps in front of the window in her house, and not just one, I don't find it bothersome at all. The kids like to sit there on the steps and look outside. But gradually they are getting too big^^

a) The floor plan should definitely remain as it is. I also want to attach it to the house outside. (There are also conservatories, for example, where the dining table is. I don't want that, but an extra room). It was just an idea and might not even be feasible. For example, it would be possible to attach it to the west side of the living room. But I would only do that in 10-15 years and if I really feel the need then.
