The dimensions we are discussing mainly result from the floor area, which should touch 100 sqm but not exceed it. The critical points here are not the building boundaries, but rather that with other dimensions either the southeast corner of the house risks coming too close to the property boundary, or the basic shape of the strict rectangle would have to be abandoned (which wouldn't be a big deal). A (perhaps asymmetrically placed) bay window / cross gable could interestingly break out of the previous discussion framework, for example. This could give rise to a dressing room with high cabinets all around. We are still far from the 300th post.

I do see it that way too, but so far I thought that any deviation would immediately blow the budget.

I don’t have the feeling that the OP wants to change anything about his jagged floor plan anymore. So, I do believe in a soon end.

If there is a really good reason for a bay window, I would be in favor as well. With the current floor plan, I rather assumed that the stairs or the storage room are in the middle. I would rather not want an asymmetrical bay window. I am also not in favor of, for example, forcing a walk-in closet. The upper floor is big enough to possibly cut off something from another room and then use it as a walk-in closet. For example, this would be the case if we don't have 2 children, or the children have moved out.

Why not deviate a bit from the straightness? Nothing looks more boring than a straight wall with a shelf. What looks good is a shelf that appears to be recessed into the wall. You can achieve that through such recesses.

That doesn't look any wilder than a grouper either

If the budget allows, I would soften the basic pattern of the gingerbread house a little bit.

Yeah, why not. I prefer to plan so that you can fit cabinets from the market into the niches, but of course you can also build a 20cm deep shelf yourself.
