I see it like Katja, that's why we always write, "möbliere den Grundriss mit deinen Möbeln" and not with the furniture ideas of the architect/draftsman. This is also repeated more than once in every floor plan thread. Because unfortunately, we here on the other side of the thread do not yet have crystal balls that let us see what a TE has for hobbies, furniture, etc... sometimes a pity.

an active housewife, who constantly moves between rooms and floors as the mother of two children, might see it somewhat differently, especially since she then, while the husband spends his 99% in the living room, quickly does the laundry again.

The piano doesn't really bother in this case (it’s not deep and it’s not standing right at the window sill either). Even if it weren’t there, under certain circumstances (when sitting at the table with chairs pulled out wide) it would be a bit difficult to comfortably go through the sliding door (I understand a comfortable passage to be 80-100 cm wide). Of course, in most situations it will be perfectly okay to squeeze past the table, but for a new build one might have considered a bit more width for the sliding door from the start. It wouldn't only have been useful for that, but also for the sense of space a wider door would have been nice (I was just at friends’ place and they have a 4m sliding door – that’s really great). There certainly would have been possibilities to get more width (wider house, narrower kitchen, etc.).

Even that I find difficult – usually you can only imagine it once you have set it up and everything is finished. That is why I find it so important to be able to draw on the experiences of others. Tables and chairs usually have standard dimensions anyway.

There is, after all, also a time after the children; as a retiree, one certainly spends much more time in the living room – and then one would appreciate a nice layout.

I do not want to shift the blame onto anyone here, we should have looked at more model houses etc., but still every room is different, every effect varies. I just wanted to say that I had the feeling that the focus was often not on the important rooms.
