I wonder why you even post the plans. Even the most absurd mistakes are subordinated to and defended by the optimal fireplace position. Whether the wardrobes fit or not – it doesn't matter, even if the chimney stands across the room.
I have and always have been open to suggestions, of course. I don’t like mirroring the stairs because we would like to have the storage space in the ground floor hallway. Mirrored, it looks awkward in the hallway, in my opinion. The chimney actually stands very well on the ground floor (optimal living room width, enough space for TV etc.), on the upper floor I only see the possibility to align the interior wall of the children's room flush with the chimney (up to the end of the chimney) and thus, as you already said, to create a built-in wardrobe and at the same time the built-in wardrobe niche in the bedroom. That way this "dead corner" would be eliminated (but in the children's room that would only be about 80 cm x 50 cm of built-in wardrobe space, a wardrobe would still have to be added).
Would the space then be better utilized in your opinion?
