Instead, doors and window sills are planned in abundance. "Standing space" is supposedly needed. It is needed too, but not everywhere :)

That's right, you really don't need that much standing space... I've realized that now as well. You probably just overthink it beforehand.
Yes exactly... we have very many walls. Back then, other things were important to us and yes, we often ignored warnings in that regard. I just found it difficult to plan something you can't really grasp. You only notice many things after living in a house for a few weeks. Such a short stay in a show house is unfortunately not always very enlightening.
Maybe one should just be more daring. We were very cautious, were unfortunately not well advised by our house seller and architect, but we also had our own rigid opinions.
Of course, one can live well in our current house too, but a lot of potential was wasted...
