We are talking about the west wall the whole time. Nice that you are picking up on the posts. West is the house side, right? So the short wall? Yes, you kill yourself if you sit facing a wall. Uh,... do I have no say? I would find it very rude if my guest constantly looked somewhere else than at the table or at those sitting around. I don't think so. You are protected, for example, by a wall behind you, but the view can go into the open. the FB groups will come later via PM

Well, maybe doctor games, where the wall color matches the nurse's outfit so nicely *SCNR*

I like windows with a fixed lower part: then nothing gets in the way when opening, and you can still have something on the windowsill.

What I could also well imagine as an alternative to a sofa would be the Love Chair Avalanche from Cor – a very wide armchair, here with the option to raise the backrest (then you can really lounge in it) or fold it forward. These things are phenomenally comfortable to sit in. I don’t know if we would have bought our sofa if I had discovered these earlier. Either take several of these wide armchairs or a two-seater (also from the Avalanche series, which is generously sized) and one or two of the armchairs added. They are very delicate and easy to move, and you are flexible in the living room design. If you want to watch TV, you turn them towards the TV, otherwise, you can place them in front of the fireplace.

We also had a corner sofa, but it is always very bulky and fills a room a lot. Since you currently feel "trapped" there anyway, I would stay away from such a corner sofa and choose a more "airy" variant.

I just looked it up, looks pretty good. Also the possibility to change direction when the fireplace is on etc.

Yes, a corner sofa can indeed be very bulky, I already find our current (non-corner) sofa quite bulky for the room. I definitely imagine something more delicate, which also stands on legs. Whether it will be a corner sofa, I still have to discuss.

Something along those lines or even more minimalist:

Climbee speaks from the bottom of my heart. The different small flower pots on the windowsill, table, coffee table, and the little decor all look totally dull and outdated. Surely you want something new. But I also doubt that you have a knack for making something truly beautiful out of it. Therefore, I would also get an interior designer or home stager involved who can craft a nice concept for you. All cohesive and in one color tone. That can really turn out great!

I would also put the sofa in the lower corner and place the TV under the window on a very low sideboard. The piano can also go against the right wall. The space between the sliding door and the window is better used as an eye-catcher – e.g., a delicate bookshelf or a nicely decorated sideboard with a picture collage above it. From the sofa in the lower corner you also see the fireplace from the side. And at the same time, you can let your gaze wander out of the sliding door and the window. Sofa in front of the window looking toward the wall, I find so stupid. Even if most architects suggest it, but only to accommodate the TV.

Putting a longer, narrow table crosswise would be an idea. And guests wouldn’t look at the hallway but at the fireplace. And yes, curtains down to the floor also make small windows a gem. Rug in the sofa corner, beautiful lamps that emit a golden warm light, etc. Large indoor plants instead of small pots. So everything Climbee has already mentioned.

What I still wonder: Especially in winter, you mostly sit in the living room in the dark. Many dark holes (= windows) are not a nice sight. Don’t you also feel uncomfortable in the dark in your living-dining room in the evening? Because then it certainly isn’t about missing windows but about the cool, loveless furnishings.

It looks minimalist here because it's a huge room, also very high - with you, this sofa would overwhelm the space. Much too big!
