It's just sometimes frustrating when you stand in the living room and see what simple possibilities there could have been. Why, for example, not just put the piano on the other side next to the living room door and make the fireplace a bit smaller? Then the entire south side would have been open for windows of any width. Or also a wider couch, etc. But as you already said, you have to experience it first. On paper, everything always looks quite different, and unfortunately, I can't always imagine something like that well beforehand. But yes, I will be satisfied with it too, and eventually life goes on, and other things become important. Nevertheless, a lot of money was spent on it, and of course, it would have been nice to have a floor plan that also works well in everyday life.

The fireplace was very important to you back then. And you surely had great moments of success while planning. So now enjoy your fireplace. Photos would be nice! I was/would have been much more pedantic in my younger years too. Fortunately, I am at an age now where you learn a bit of calmness

Hello??? It works! In all areas where function matters: kitchen, bathroom, hallway, daily routine, and daily work. Just wait for the garden season to come (which is actually already here), not just lazing on the sofa... then you'll have other things on your mind than looking for mistakes.

Yeah! I just cleared out my old bed. I'll get a new one in the spring at another location, hopefully when the terrace is finished sometime.

We have already enjoyed the fireplace and it turned out very well and is well integrated in the zackenbarsch.
This planning really went well. The fireplace doesn’t disturb at all in the bedroom either; the wardrobe fits perfectly between the fireplace and the gable wall.

Of course the floor plan works. I even think very well in these areas.

During the planning and construction I was also quite enthusiastic and really looked forward to it, but since the final result I have actually been pretty sober and depressed.
The living room seating area is bright, but when I sit there I see a lot of walls and I feel trapped. On top of that, the rather low ceiling which makes it feel oppressive. The window situation was even better in my old apartment. Actually, you should improve and feel comfortable in a house, especially in the living area. But right now I don’t feel comfortable there at all. I also have no desire at all right now to do anything in or on the house because the room is so depressing.
Of course it’s difficult to always foresee how a floor plan will feel later on and I also wouldn’t have thought that it would bother me this much now. Unfortunately, I also never visited a show home with so few/small windows, so I couldn’t anticipate this. When I think about having to live there for a long time now, it even makes me a bit sad.

Recently I showed a friend exterior views and was asked if we had remodeled an old house. By now I am ashamed to show such views.

I understand your feelings and have the desire to try to at least comfort you a little and cheer you up. Technically, you certainly have the option to install one or two additional windows later on in the medium to long term (approve? and) have them installed. Perhaps you are among those who receive Christmas bonuses annually or occasionally get a small subsidy from parents/grandparents. Consider already where you would like to have another window and start making plans, imagine which window(s) (size, shape, number of sashes or glass blocks?) you will have installed later and where. In principle, you could even obtain concrete and free quotes and find out that it is not as expensive and complicated as you suspect. Please keep in mind, a house/garden is never really finished. There is always, and as I suspect with everyone, something to change or optimize. It’s a pity that you were ashamed recently. Even among professionals, the view on what can be called successful architecture is controversial.

The fireplace is really well done. Now I have to grin. Even if it's bad how you feel. At first, my living room also seemed so cold to me. Then everything was so quiet (my husband is not around much during the week and before we lived in a multigenerational house). It was terrible. But the more you made the house your own, a curtain here, something different there, the more beautiful moments, the better it got. Why shouldn't you dare to show your house. Yes, it is simple. IT IS YOURS!!!!! You set this budget and decided against many cost drivers. That also takes ability and willingness. Be proud of it. Try putting the sofa against the other wall, then your view goes through the balcony door. Maybe it's better.
