You are absolutely right. That is why the assessment of the replacement value is so important. And at €3,400 I am miles away from the 130%. The insurance company has therefore deliberately pushed the value down and the costs up, so that a repair approval does not occur. The residual value was noted as €400, by the way. A seat bench alone is traded for over €1,000. We have meanwhile had the vehicle temporarily repaired; the scratches and dents are of course still there. But it is roadworthy and even passed TÜV in January. Here I have some further questions:
As far as I know, there is no "repair approval" in case of an accident. The opposing insurance company usually even pays up to 130% of the replacement costs if the car is repaired. Wouldn't it be advantageous to have the car repaired directly then?
Letter from the opposing insurance dated 01/12/2020: Dear Ms. ...., Attached please find the final and conclusive statement on the replacement value from the expert xxx. No further statements will be made in this matter by the expert or by us.
Furthermore, we inform you that this is a clear total loss. A repair in the 130% range is no longer given.
You are reminded solely to provide your bank details in accordance with your letter of 09/11/2020.
