Something like that, but we’re not at the end yet. It’s still going one notch sharper. I wrote to you yesterday that it’s intense. Maybe it helps others as a consolation when things aren’t going well right now, that they’re still doing quite well compared to us. But we’ll manage it too.

So I got rid of him for the time being. Now I had to somehow move forward. Meanwhile, my construction advisor had become seriously ill and was no longer available. By phone, yes, but he could no longer come to the construction site. I contacted various construction companies, no chance of getting anyone on short notice. One even put me off until spring 2022. Then I posted an ad on Blauarbeit. A Bulgarian company responded, saying they would complete everything. We agreed on the price and it was supposed to start quickly. But the day after signing the contract, I received an invoice by email for €40,000 advance payment for material purchases. This was not agreed upon at all, and I revoked the contract.

So back to square one. Shortly thereafter, a construction company from Brandenburg got in touch. Four of them came straight away to inspect the construction site. The future general contractor had brought along a structural builder/mason, a heating/plumbing installer, and an electrician, whom he would constantly work with. Everyone was enthusiastic and the contract was signed in mid-April. And then the misery began…

Thank you for your contributions. I find your confidence admirable and am crossing my fingers tightly that there will still be a happy ending, even if on currently crooked paths. You know who you're doing all this for. We are also building in the Leipzig region and I am very relieved that we did not commit to a general contractor. You simply don't know what you're getting, no matter what experiences others have had with the same company. Conditions, number of employees, company policies, and much more can change so quickly.

What I am wondering now is whether the construction companies/craftsmen treat you this way because you are a woman? Gradually, I can't find any other explanation.

I subscribed to you, so I'm not too late and the thread disappears.

I definitely hope that it will turn out well.
