The comments from WilhelmRo do not personally affect me. Whether he knows my story or not. I just find his overall attitude to be sh... How can one take pleasure in the misfortune of others? I can only hope for him that the work of the "renowned craftsmen" still shows no defects in 5 years. I now know what to pay attention to and am sure that my roof is now in order, the same goes for the vapor barrier and drywall construction. Does he know how his underlay, vapor barrier, insulation, etc. were installed? I now know two lawyers specializing in construction law who have had massive botched work done, and they certainly did not commission any random or cheap companies. To have bad work done by a construction law lawyer is quite something. Many craftsmen nowadays have no scruples about making quick money. Of course, this does not apply to all. But they have to be looked for.

I would like to say something from my own experience. Although not in house construction, I have seen quite a bit of craftsmanship. And based on this personal evidence, I would say that it is not true that they have no scruples. They have no idea! Meaning, they are simply not good at their profession and often don't even realize that they are not good. Of course, this does not apply to everyone. But competence in craftsmanship is still a bit more unevenly distributed than in other professions, that is my personal impression.

I would say in craftsmanship it simply becomes noticeable faster. Don't want to know how many people work in large companies where it would be completely irrelevant (for the company's results) whether they are there or not.

I see it a bit differently. Due to the shortage of craftsmen and their desire for quick money, they take on more jobs than they can actually handle. So they botch the work and cash in, even if they might be able to do better. Most of them don't even need recommendations. The customer is just happy if anyone shows up at all. If then there's also no knowledge involved, it’s a complete mess. I recently put out a tender for painting work. One guy actually showed up on the construction site, stood in front of the newly tiled wall, and asked if that should be painted too.
