Well, that sounds reasonable at first. But if you take a closer look, you will realize that you do need a "design" after all. Otherwise, the socket looks different from the light switch, and that one looks different from the telephone socket again. So you look for someone who offers a model program where all the parts you need are available. And suddenly you have your designed socket program from a brand manufacturer and pay for it. Because they exclusively make run-of-the-mill sockets for the weekend cabin. And this can happen with almost every trade.

I personally don't always like this "black-and-white" painting. Either design or hardware store! I hope most people understood what I mean!

Regarding the house/plot. It's still not clear who will do it. Personally, I would prefer if someone could get the rooms exactly into a floor plan the way we want! Katja's floor plan was already a dream and totally matched our idea of what we wanted. But then it has to be an architect, right? If I understood correctly, the houses are predetermined for the others and only few changes can be made.

I don't think it works like that!

You have a floor plan drawn. Then you sign the construction contract. After that comes the selection of materials. So before that, you won't really know exactly from the amounts what will be added on top.

No, that's nonsense. Almost every provider does everything individually nowadays. In my opinion, prefabricated house providers are a bit less flexible than the general contractors. I have no experience with architects. Today I would build with an architect because now I have a better idea of how things work. When I was as ignorant as you, I was glad that the general contractor really did everything and every little detail for us until we moved in.

No, you misunderstood me. "I" would like to create a rough floor plan in advance, like Katja's, and then sample it room by room. That way, I would also know later approximately what costs would come up where.

And who is supposed to participate in the sampling the way you imagine? It’s clear that you present it to them. But hardly any provider cooperates with that.
