Hello,
we are getting a 4m wide sliding door in our conservatory, it will be 4-part, but not a folding door. They are not burglary-proof...

Weimy, do you possibly have a photo of the door that you are getting?

Well, as long as they are still 2 and 4, you do want to know when they leave the house. And when they have reached the age where they can leave the house on their own, so around 5 or 6, they should be able to operate the doors.

So the 1.5m wide sliding door from my parents-in-law can now be easily opened by the big one at 3 years old.

That makes me smile: I have not yet been able to just open any of my clients' sliding doors ... (I am over 3) Maybe if I had practiced after instruction

A hinged door is suitable if you want to quickly open and close the door to get herbs or something - you can also keep it open continuously with a hinged door, comfort inside as well as outside would be the harder to open sliding door.
