Oops… I meant the stairs o_O Sorry! They look a bit strange with you, so without a wall .. or is there still a passage under the stairs to the kitchen?
Oh, oops, yes, a continuous knee wall is missing in the drawing at the stairs. Accordingly, the door in the kitchen is an access to the storage room under the stairs.
The hallway on the ground floor has quite a lot of space but due to the doors in the entrance area still no real possibilities for a wardrobe. The closet between the stairs and living room is too far away and at a narrow spot. The roughly 4 m next to the stairs will probably look very tunnel-like and is exclusively a transit area without use.
Are you fixed on the straight stairs or would a winding one also be an alternative?
True, the wardrobe would be too far back there. But you could take about a 1.50 m x 1.00 m corner out of the technical room so that a wardrobe can be created directly on the right at the entrance.
That the 4 m next to the stairs look tunnel-like is definitely a downside of the floor plan. That’s why we originally planned the kitchen as a walk-through room. We are not fixed on the straight stairs but could also imagine a switchback stair. However, it is difficult for us to fit all rooms into our floor plan then.
Unfortunately, our house is relatively narrow (9.25 m) and long (13 m). Since the position of the living/dining area in the west is fixed, with an entrance in the east, at least 8 m (13 m house length - 5 m width of the living/dining area) between the front door and the living room must be overcome. The stair shape does not change that. Only an entrance from the north would help. However, that would also mean that we don’t have the entrance on the street side and would have to walk halfway around the house each time. Also, it is relatively tight towards the north since we only have a 3 m setback from the boundary. Accordingly, an entrance from the north is actually not a real option for us. What do you think?
