I would never save on a wall under any circumstances. In the room where the fireplace is visible, it wouldn't be a problem, but the other room, where it would be flush with the wall, one could eventually forget that the chimney runs along there and accidentally want to screw something into the wall. Yes, and there are settlement cracks, as says.

So I've never heard that the chimney is practically embedded into the wall!?

I have a similar problem....
my chimney is already (picture from the ground floor hallway) almost touching the wall, there is still about 0.5-1.0 cm of air between.

As far as I know, there is usually 2 cm of insulation material between the load-bearing wall and the chimney so that the chimney can "move."
Isn't this a recipe for cracks in the plaster or even in the wall??

I spoke to the builder about it, he said that mortar is applied in between, then the joint is cut out and filled with acrylic, and nothing should happen??

Can someone confirm this?

that's just a later emergency solution. no construction company wanted to do something like that at all. so around here in the north it's really frowned upon.
we also have our chimney standing in the room now. it's not really great, but what can you do. if anything, I would rather place the chimney so that, for example, the flue is in the guest bathroom or in the utility room.
