And then they ship that stuff to us with heavy oil tankers... just my kind of humor

Those were mobile phones in the early 1990s until the mid-90s as well. The first one of my then-boss was a big box and still cost almost 10,000 DM. And today they are more than everyday items. I simply think engineers etc. can now show what can be inside and shouldn’t let themselves be hindered by self-righteous environmental activists ;) ;).

Source? Since the crude e-car comparisons, one unfortunately has to fact-check everything.

It was actually like that this winter in December. We had several weeks of "dark doldrums." The colors are "duck poop" for wind. We had 3 weeks where wind and photovoltaics only managed about 15% of current demand. If we then switch all heating to heat pumps and cars to BEVs, we really need solutions. And I don’t accept "Let’s just speed up the expansion – it will work out." If we want to be CO2-neutral by 2045, we also need green base load in winter (demand will rise extremely!!!). Gas is out, coal is out, and biomass on a relevant scale I have a big question mark against. Hydrogen will buy up the steel and chemical industry for the foreseeable future. What’s left? Import nuclear power from France and say that France is on the wrong path and we’ll have blooming landscapes here?

Could be. Just like African countries have come to prosperity through raw materials, for a small corrupt elite. And that is still the better case, because often there was civil war over control of the wealth. No one has been able to explain to me convincingly why it should be so different in this case.
Cheap electricity from Africa is just as much a smokescreen as green hydrogen as a great panacea. Of course, it's convenient to simply conjure a solution somewhere else for problems that are difficult to solve in Europe. But it would be better to deal with the question of what possibilities we have here in Europe and plan accordingly. If it turns out better in the end, great. But everything else is castle in the air.

Then we have to roughly sextuple it.
That doesn't sound so unrealistic.

Rising consumption is already balanced by savings.
For example, many oil heating systems need just as much electricity as our heat pump.

But yes, it's an ambitious goal, but that's exactly what's needed right now.

Why? We have the storage and they can also be filled with synthetic gas.
