Daily newspapers demand a lot when the day is long. Whether every civil servant has to be tenured or not is another matter.

The salary is too low to also cut the pension now. Because who is supposed to become a teacher, police officer, etc., if something is removed there. For decades there has been a debate about whether to change the civil service, but nothing will change in this regard in the next 50 years either. Because you just have to look at the professions of the decision-makers in the parliaments.

Oh, I see. Does a salaried teacher really earn so much more than his tenured colleague?

I’m happy for the teachers, I couldn’t deal with other people’s brats day in, day out. But I don’t come close to the salary of a high school teacher, senior study councilor, in the second highest pay group of IG Metall...

The salaries of civil servants were indeed low in the 80s and 90s. Today, none of them would earn more in the private sector or take an equivalent job.

Civil servant here. I have to say, after last year's zero increase, 2.8% from this year on, the farewell will be made easier for me at some point. But don't cry then when the taxi driver teaches the kids geography :p. Without any benefits, no one wants to teach too many students in too small, rundown rooms like in the 70s asbestos bunkers. Moldy acoustic panels that are partly already breaking off and bare light bulbs for lighting. Many Ukrainians already believe they fled in the wrong direction...

Not a civil servant here: As a teacher I would get 6k net (including child benefits and allowances for four children). Not so unattractive, despite the zero raise ;)

Then join the team, everyone gets in from master level onwards. At the moment, there are hardly any requirements for temporary positions. ;)
