That the contractor is simply not capable of admitting mistakes, I can show you briefly with two examples. When I suspected that the basement protruded too far above the ground and that the window wells and the entrance platform were therefore hanging too high, he first responded by saying that this could not be the case at all. After my suspicion was confirmed and it was proven that the basement protruded at least 10 cm too far, he said that this would actually be good for us because now the rainwater could no longer flow into the window wells. ,,,,,,,, 2. As we already wrote, we built with a basement. In the soil report, which was available to the contractor, it was clearly stated that the existing soil could not be used to backfill the excavation because it was not compactable. However, it was reused for the backfill without any consultation with us and without compaction. When settlement cracks (almost trenches) appeared in the ground area around the house and the scaffolding shifted and leaned against the house, we inquired. Yes, the old soil was reused because they wanted to save us costs. In retrospect, the old soil had to be largely replaced with new backfill material and compacted in layers. And these are just two examples out of many. He also could not explain to us why the masonry on the ground floor aligns flush with the concrete base of the waterproof basement. I wonder why things went so badly for us in particular. I know that there were also problems on some construction sites, including two serious ones, but apparently there are even clients who recommended him. Unimaginable for us.
