Construction company halts work despite overpayment

At least you should stop telling everyone how much budget you/you all still have. Only my architect and my construction coordinator (both trusted persons) knew my budget, and it was already clear before the construction that neither of them would waste my money. Not even my wife knows how expensive the house construction was, so she doesn’t tell it around everywhere. It simply is nobody’s business.

It’s like in consulting, where they just blindly charge down because the client still has budget.

Oops, I rather assume that it will be very tight. But that is probably exactly my problem, I say from the start what is included and then someone comes along and says, [da sind doch 100.000 € für ihn drin]. Just like what happened now.

I am surprised that one can so quickly find different companies that can/want to continue building.

In our area, all good/competent companies are fully booked until the middle of next year. :confused:

Do you have so little trust in your wife that you have to keep secrets from her? I don't see anything wrong with talking about your budget or house prices if you want to.

That surprises me too. Electricians, plumbers, roofers not before the 21st. Even with connections, it's difficult to get repairs done.

If the job is big enough, they come right away. Or a good residential area.

also a new shell construction company could start the remaining work as soon as the scaffold is gone, they bring their own.

Please arrange in writing in the offer that work on the facade and the roof is also possible with the scaffold. It has to be positioned at exactly the right distance etc. I also had to learn a lot about this with a craftsman who had his own scaffold. It was so bad that the building authority shut down the scaffold! Rightfully shut down. Either the scaffold was too far away so you could fall and hardly work, or it was so close that there was no space for insulation. Then there were several weeks of trouble with the scaffold. Never again like that... only scaffold builders and rather spend 5,000€ more.
