In the end, everyone only gets what they are actually entitled to according to the real costs. The approval notice for the maximum amount is just practical when you don’t have a concrete offer yet.

That's not quite true. If the costs end up being higher than requested, you're out of luck.

But I wouldn't be upset about it now. IF it ends up being 500 euros more expensive than the binding offer, you lose 175 euros.

Exactly. We hope the costs remain as they are, but a final offer is often not available before a sample selection and I would never ask for a higher fake invoice. The fact that honesty is not rewarded is something I always reluctantly accept ;) We are absolutely not annoyed though. We had not calculated a BaFa subsidy at all and only by this forum did we not miss the deadline, so in the end it’s a "win" either way ;)
