Who hasn't had the problem with a dishwasher that, for example, some glasses are too tall and just barely don't fit into the machine? A cutlery drawer reduces the height even further. That’s why I would always choose a large-capacity dishwasher (XXL) if it fits in the kitchen.

If you don't want to take a device from IKEA because there are some poor reviews about the washing and drying performance, I don’t see why you should take a device from the same manufacturer labeled AEG.

Ideal would be a BSH large-capacity dishwasher with a Vario hinge or an XXL from Miele. However, they don’t fit the budget if you need to have a cutlery drawer.

An alternative is a tall dishwasher where the front is mounted with an overhanging top. However, the kitchen plinth must then be set to 9 cm. Currently available for €473 including delivery?

What exactly is the difference between large-capacity dishwashers and normal dishwashers? How many more place settings can fit in them?

There is 5 cm more height available. The number of place settings remains the same. When buying a new dishwasher for the METOD kitchen, the question of whether it should be a large capacity dishwasher basically does not arise. If you don’t take one, you will invite trouble during installation.

Hello, I am about to purchase a dishwasher. I am aware that a Siemens SX76P030EU or a Bosch SBE63N20EU will work without any problems. But what about AEG models with 81.5cm and Varioscharnier (called "PerfectFit" there)? Is that possible if you put a panel on the top inside?

The model I prefer, AEG FAV2WBVI1P, has better features than the aforementioned Siemens and Bosch models and costs a little less. It naturally has Varioscharnier / PerfectFit.

I am not a "fanboy" of either brand, but the visitor reviews seem overwhelmingly negative on both sides (which is logical, because satisfied customers report much less often) when it comes to feedback on devices. However, a slightly more negative tendency can be seen with AEG.

The AEG with Perfect Fit can be adjusted to 88 cm in height and does not require anything to be added on top.

So where is the size difference in the installation of a so-called XXL dishwasher that has the same external dimensions
as a normal one.
Most XXL dishwashers have a standardized installation height of 86.5 cm.
So they are taller.

So look closely and don’t just rely on the XXL label.
