I only used the microwave as a little boy to make eggs explode. At work it still makes sense, since you can't really cook there. At home, I haven't missed it yet.. I am very interested in an oven with steam cooking function, but I haven't used it yet. Some of them can even clean themselves, right?

Ah, I first read that you advise against pyrolysis. What a few small inconspicuous letters can do.

I grew up with Miele, so it will be a Miele combo for me as well. However, I would prefer a DGC and a BM. Unfortunately, it seems that Siemens only offers ovens with microwave and pyrolysis. But I don’t want to go without pyrolysis for the "main baking device," so only a standard oven remains, and a small 40 cm wide microwave will be placed on a pull-out shelf in one of the tall cabinets. That should just warm the grain pads and is also best for the budget.

I don’t believe there are steam ovens with pyrolysis. That would probably be the holy grail of tightness for steam and resistance for 500°C. I think there are partly cleaning programs that soak dirt. Possibly also with chemical support. But I’m not sure about that.

Steam injection is not what you imagine. If you also want to do filet, I would make sure that the device can do sous vide. I have one from AEG with a separate water tank. So external steam generation. The internal devices at least from AEG have a rust problem.

To those who own 2 combination appliances. For which manufacturer+model did you decide and why.

I can well imagine both variants.

Siemens = Bosch = Neff

I would decide based on usability in between.

We chose Bosch. Neff was immediately out for us, Siemens' control knob felt too wobbly.

Miele would definitely be better, especially for steam. But it wasn't worth twice the price to us.

The oven with a fully functional steam cooker is easy to clean because things do not really burn on. For roasts that benefit from occasional steaming, there is a steam-assisted oven with steam support and pyrolytic cleaning (works very well with our Siemens).
