Defensive offer, or have house prices become so expensive?

Yes, it is quite steep. According to my brother-in-law even steeper than it looks in the photos. My mother actually told me that as well. They were there on Saturday and she said you could hear someone working on a motorcycle or something. It apparently sounded a bit like a tinkerer’s workshop. That’s right. The scrap lying around below is not directly near the plot in question; from that perspective my sister only took a photo because from the valley you can see much better how steep it goes down there. In the “scrap” photo our possible plot is hardly visible.

I would take more time for the search. It all looks like rushed decisions. Your child is only two and any move before starting school is still easy.

With there is also the "peculiarity" that she rather needs calm, and therefore among other things gives up the first house. For that reason, one should not judge by photos, but best set up a tent for a week and see how quiet the area is :-) A nice property is no use to you if the neighbor is similar to the old one...

Yes and no. By now it’s not just that one person, but there are already 4 in total who have developed this tendency. That’s quite something special and I haven’t perceived that in any of my (various) previous places of residence. :D
I consider the chance of running into the same problem twice extremely unlikely. And if it does happen, I have to deal with it; then it’s not the neighbors’ fault but mine. But as I said, this is not my first time living here in a settlement or in a detached house. It’s definitely special.

Anyway, the core essence is that we are fleeing from loneliness here, and I’d rather not postpone that for years anymore. First, because our new build isn’t getting any younger, and secondly because we don’t feel comfortable here in various ways and would like to live in the social environment where we also want to stay. Continuing to set up camp here feels like a waste of time when you already know it’s only temporary. I don’t know if that’s understandable if you’re not in the situation.

That is absolutely understandable - but you also want the new/old home to truly make you happy - and not unhappy in a different way. A year or two more doesn’t really matter.

Then I would actually prefer the subletting solution :) I believe that is overall the most sensible option for you. You are with the family and can calmly look around on site and oversee your project.
