Defensive offer, or have house prices become so expensive?

Then I guess I'll have to start a new thread :) Maybe I'll have the muse for it tonight.

That's true! The project discussed last is currently still undecided. I had opened a separate thread for it, in which people put in an enormous amount of effort to google the property address and then describe it so thoroughly in the thread that now even a four-year-old could send me a postcard if we decide to buy it. However, no one made any effort regarding the actual questions and the hoped-for input about the floor plan. This undermining of my desired privacy – if I had wanted to publish the exposé, I would have done so – I found, to put it kindly, somewhat creepy. And yes, I KNOW that you can find that out, but that doesn’t mean it has to be done, and then publicly discussed in detail. Therefore, we are actually considering not buying the property after all and no longer discussing our own projects here – or only discussing them so abstractly that no one can deduce our address.

There are worse properties than this one, and it certainly has a certain charm. In the end, I do not think the decision to consider alternatives is wrong. But only in the overall context (where you currently come from in terms of the property's standard and so on) - and definitely not just because the internet would know where your house is located. Since unfortunately no longer participates here, it is a correspondingly smaller loss to discuss one's property in a more abstract way - but it is still not useless to outline it concretely. Unfortunately, the private message policy here makes it difficult to selectively provide individual discussion partners with a clearer picture :-(

The amount of information sometimes demanded here is really excessive! The private message policy here helps to avoid shadow discussions - this is a public forum! Incidentally, it also prevents shady acquisition attempts and advertising. Exactly right.

I feel addressed by the criticism because I was one of the bad people who dared, with just 2 variables, thus without “great effort” (I couldn’t find the imprint of wildersueden), to look at the property out of curiosity, and I find it a bit annoying. None of the clever people who found it have put any additional info into the thread (e.g. the ID), so that someone would stand in front of your door or snatch the property away from you. I can’t really understand your dismay. And besides, the thread disappears just as quickly into obscurity as a rooster crows after a month....

And what’s the use of such a thread if you’re supposed to discuss blindly without seeing the entire property?

In this sense, don’t make the purchase dependent on something like this (or want to). Although I consider the property a quick shot from you, which in my opinion doesn’t really suit you anyway (e.g. transformer station right on the property).

So, now I’m going to boot up my computer again, browse a bit more on your hard drive and remotely turn on your neighbor’s outdoor radio: “Alexa, start the radio and play ‘every cell of my body is happy and totally in a good mood’ on loop at full volume.” ….

On the one hand, I can understand you and find your humorous digression (Alexa ...) cute. :) On the other hand, none of us here know to what extent he/she has already had relevant experiences with stalkers, so a bit of caution is certainly appropriate. But please don’t take this as criticism, I am the neutral Switzerland on this point. :)

(Except for the word a...; that is questionable, as there are (older ;-) ) ladies present here. ;-) Maybe we should open a "Gentlemen's Salon" thread ;-) where cigars can be smoked. :-) :-) )
