Defensive offer, or have house prices become so expensive?

I commuted 600 km weekly for three months and then monthly for another three months. Always heading out against the flow on Thursday evenings and returning on Sundays. Worked night shifts in the hotel on Friday and Saturday nights. Traveled without a child, but always took passengers along. They can be similarly exhausting.
On top of that, in an emotionally demanding situation.
So I find it amazing how much a person is capable of handling when they have to.
And when you really want something...

It all depends on the children. We drive about 5-6 times a year 5.5 hours to the mother-in-law with one child. Never had a problem. Friends of ours (have 3 children aged 9, 6 and 0.5 years). They regularly drive about 10-12 times a year 4 hours to their parents and also fly on vacation with 3 children. I find the root canal treatment considerably worse...

I find it interesting how it still revolves around the trip, although I have said several times that we will definitely go down at the appropriate time.

The mentioned property has, for example, already been largely disqualified based on the photos. It is not just "hilly," it is extremely steep.
Even if one could find a way to build on it at reasonable costs, there would still be 1550m² of land around it that you can do little with because it is so steep. Or you would have to fill in an extreme amount.

Too bad, but you still have one or two other properties on your radar. I'm looking forward to your reports. Please keep us updated.

Off Topic: I will never forget a plot of land we were offered, simply because it’s so funny to think about what my brother-in-law, who is an insurance broker, would have said about it: Extremely steep, rocky terrain (part of which would have had to be blasted away for a house), also in a flood zone, and as a crowning touch, suspicion of unexploded ordnance from WWII. :) (Everything else negligible.)

Terracing is the magic word. I have a book at home, "Der neue große Gartenplaner" by Peter Wirth, which has really great examples of how to make a hillside garden beautiful. But of course, it's not exactly cheap, with various retaining walls and stairs. Alternatively, I can also take a walk to a house nearby that has done an extreme amount of filling, and it looks terrible.
