We probably think similarly. And we will probably never find out exactly what was wrong...

*gag* I wouldn’t overdo the floor-to-ceiling. Somewhere you want to be able to put something without seeing a back wall from outside. But that’s so individual – only you can decide that. You can look out the window. :P So, my sister remodeled her house and turned her kitchen into a dining kitchen as well. I find it really cozy because you can sit together nicely while watching the other work. I would veto that, but there are often many reasons for one design or another.

You mean like in grandma’s basement kitchen or where? New houses should be bone dry, otherwise you did something wrong. Or what else do you fear besides mold?

I just meant creating more space around the door, since that’s a popular walkway that needs room. By the way, I would replace the door with a double sliding door. But probably that’s too expensive again.

I like the L-shape better. It makes the whole room feel more spacious. That way, you can also pull out the table when guests are over. The cabinet layout can still be optimized.

A larger door to the living area would really be great. If there isn’t enough space for a sliding door, perhaps a double-leaf door would do? Staircase on the ground floor: don’t you trip over the first step when coming from the entrance? The passage seems narrow to me.
