What annoys me is not that mistakes happen. What annoys me is how people have dealt with it so far. The situation is escalating again here. As I said, I wrote to the structural builder and the site manager that I do not find the argumentation convincing, but after consulting with my expert, I have no objections as long as there is a clearance certificate from the structural engineering office. Now he (i.e. the structural builder) is getting upset about how I dare to try to explain to him how to build a wall. He is asking for an on-site meeting so that I can tell him this to his face. I guess I will have to spend money to bring an expert as support since no support is to be expected from the site manager.

Hey, I would actually go along with that and play dumb on site - that would even be very easy for me in the construction sector. Print out a page from the datasheet regarding the overlap and just ask why it wasn't done.

On the other hand, it's a question of whether you can even win such a war and not lose 100% - one way or another. Didn't we have someone here in the forum who had someone pee under the floor insulation during construction or even sh*t in front of the house?

Difficult. As a desk worker, I also always struggle a lot with the observed difference between theory and practice in construction.

I’m going to try to de-escalate things for now, the building expert may have already overreacted. I wrote to the shell builder that I might have misunderstood him and that it might really be better to clarify things in a personal conversation, email being an imperfect communication tool and all. Asked when he would have time, I wanted to bring some coffee over anyway.

Ok, in the other forum, they actually recommend bringing an expert along. I've now suggested an appointment. Let's see.

No, you don't have to. I wouldn't stoop to the "level" of a hothead. A staggered joint of the butt joints belongs there, and after all, that's no rocket science. My old aunt solves this puzzle faster than the egg timer rings. ******* Hints that there might be other forums beyond the seven mountains where the seven dwarfs live are unwelcome ******* :-)

Of course, I meant the shopping center around the corner...

So the appointment is agreed. He can explain to my expert why that doesn't work...
