Because connections for the washer and dryer are installed in the pantry. Once the children have left home, washing is done downstairs.

The pantry would then have to serve as the laundry room. There is still a storage space under the stairs. Maybe you could push a bit to the left side of the plan so that one can move around well in the utility room.

So I find your draft something completely different! I like it! Especially the entrance area and the arrangement of the stairs appeal to me a lot. Can't this somehow be combined with my draft? Just by the arrangement, something like that can certainly be optimized on the upper floor.

The external dimensions of 12.18 * 10.50 are correct. The small covered corner is only deducted from the measurements in this case. It's 1.50cm.

I would like to stick to my draft unless the lower area (hallway with stairs, utility room, and guest WC) can be arranged better. A small guest WC is enough for us.

Kaho, couldn't your "open staircase" somehow also be integrated into our plan?

But there could still be optimization in the process – it depends on what and how you build! With 2 floors and bedrooms upstairs, I would ALWAYS put the utility room upstairs – and of course a terrace for hanging laundry... THAT is optimization in old age. Only: a) not everyone builds 2 floors, b) many don’t have space for a utility room upstairs, and c) not everyone has a terrace for drying laundry. Therefore, everyone must "optimize" within their means. That’s why the solutions don’t always look the same.

Optimization in old age would include a stairlift moped from the ADAC magazine. In my view, a utility room on the upper floor is a current trend and only serves present-day convenience. A laundry chute would be better if you really need something like that.
