Sorry, my talent there is much worse than yours. I'm also not clear on exactly how you imagine that. A shed roof page with only the rafters. Where are they supposed to lead to? The original poster is deliberately building a stepped floor to avoid slants, and now they're supposed to put on a slanted shed roof? I feel like I'm missing a piece of the film in your explanations. I also have to admit, I haven't followed the whole thread.

Rooms can be swapped. What's the issue if there are only three or two of you left to move the sofa downstairs?

And stairlifts also don't cost a fortune anymore.

I don't want to convert you, just simply to bring a different way of thinking.

By the way, with us the [OG] is completely barrier-free and even with a wheelchair you can get everywhere. We don't want to have a ghost floor in 20 or 30 years and squeeze ourselves into the [UG].

This is a forum and everyone can freely express their opinion. Your option is not an option for us. It won't become a ghost floor; it will still be years until both children have left the house. Then it will just be guest rooms or hobby rooms for whatever.

The thread is already very long and I can't and don't want to constantly take a step back; then we would still be planning in 10 years. Many of your arguments referred to us – the parents – thinking long-term. We see it that way too! As already written several times, variant 4a seems to be the best option for us and our wishes/possibilities. If anyone still sees potential for optimization there, feel free to share it.

What exactly do you not like about my version apart from this storage room on the upper floor? If I don't know what you find stupid about it, I can hardly suggest alternatives.

4a with the carport on the other side as drawn by Kaho

Laundry upstairs in the storage room is worth considering

Dining/living/cooking by Bautsch I like better than in your designs. However, I prefer the parent area in yours
