First: yes, it would. Second: 195 countries have signed. And we are by far not leading in our efforts, ALTHOUGH we are among the richest. Sad, isn't it?

has explained it in detail. You see 6 cents per kWh as robbery, but it is actually a gift! As he wrote. Your investment in photovoltaics is currently reimbursed to you by about 70% over the course of its lifetime. By the way, after the end of the feed-in tariff, the photovoltaic system does not disappear into thin air and usually still has well over 90% efficiency (The state simply gives you the 6 cents! For example, buy a private car, do you get a little gift for every kilometer driven?). But you have to want to understand that... I know several people privately who have about 20-year-old systems that still work like a charm, only one inverter was ever defective, and replacing it cost around 2K. P.S. I also believe that currently the systems are still paid for at (significantly) more than 100% before their technical end; in the case of surplus feed-in, that depends on how much they use themselves and don’t have to buy for at least 30 cents (not losing means winning! Old poker wisdom ;) )

I'll make myself very unpopular briefly.

1. There are no longer many specimens of the "rubble women," as far as they ever existed outside of post-war propaganda, who still own their own homes.
2. I actually don't find that unfair. One has to be able to afford a house at all times. If that’s no longer the case, one has to sell it. And exactly this argument is still being used to sell houses today.
-> Building up assets for old age. When I’m old, I naturally have to use up my assets.

When grandma has sold and found a place in the senior shared apartment, then we can discuss the next renovation or floor plan thread here. Natural cycle of life. With the difference that the new buyer will soon certainly heat without gas.

You have found it, the feed-in tariff. It is currently being raised from 6.3 to 8 point something. And yes, this feed-in tariff pays off the system. One kWp on the roof generates 1000 kWh/year. That is €80 per year, which makes (over 20 years) a guaranteed €1600. That is how much the kWp (without VAT) on the roof may cost you if you want 100% funding. That is even currently no problem. Every kWh you consume yourself saves you ~25 cents. That is then your return on the upfront investment. What else in life is subsidized so heavily and still brings money in the end? If you are more interested in photovoltaics, there is a thread here once a week in which plenty of capable people like to write a lot.

Why is it a gift when I provide energy that the energy company can then sell at many times the price? I provide something that someone else can use. That is probably different from the kilometers driven with a car.

Optionally my alternative version to that: The children buy the old ladies' house at a fair price, tear down the old hut, build an energy-efficient multi-family house including a small senior- and disability-friendly apartment for grandma on the huge plot, and everyone lives happily ever after until the end ;)
