The furnishing of the wardrobe is botched. I would like to see the shoe cabinet. Something was forcibly constructed under the window that, in my opinion, doesn't work that way. Either they are open compartments, with the jackets hanging in front on the left, or the doors swing against the jackets. The large cabinet should have sliding doors. At this size, that is nonsense.

The architect said that the many recesses in the facade make the construction expensive. I have also heard that such uneven surfaces bring risks of moisture, moss growth, etc.

We are now unsure whether we should rather build a city villa with a hipped roof, where the walls of the ground floor and upper floor are aligned. Maybe that can be loosened up by other things.

Bauhaus style without these recesses and especially without roof overhang is too bulky, angular, and harsh for us.

Maybe just try this once and at the same time specify my idea sketch, which goes in a similar direction to what you have already sent, kaho674.

Quite exhausting. But we feel that at the moment we are moving offside with the current planning. I believe the transfer of the initially unfeasible design with its changes does not fit. However, I don't want moisture bridges etc.

I also see that the many projections first of all want to be protected against water. Chamfering and sealing every edge - of course that is doable, but I believe the likelihood of errors is high and the trouble endless. If you already had concerns with the flat roof, how is it then with all the edges and angles? Who cleans them from moss, leaves, and bird nests?

There is usually a reason why buildings have been constructed as the old houses look. New materials certainly allow new styles, but do not change the basic rules. Where water or sun or both stand or constantly strike, material fatigue is high. The more surface area I offer for this, the more I have to protect these spots. All doable but potentially very time-consuming and possibly remains an "area for construction or cleaning" forever. Is that worth the beauty?

You are right. Unfortunately, the hints really only came from the new architect. We did not talk about it at all with the previous one or were not pointed to it.

I am now looking for beautiful houses in the [Stadtvilla] style with a hipped roof that perhaps receive a special appearance through other aspects.

Our architect took up the idea and tried to draw my sketch of ideas. He himself doesn't think it's bad at all. And the proposed slight reduction of the building can be easily realized that way. Apart from the missing kitchen island (and maybe that can also fit in the smaller kitchen), I don't see any disadvantages for now. Not even upstairs. On the contrary. One of the children's rooms is now directly connected to the bathroom by the door, and the utility room is larger again....

However, the balconies are spatially separated from each other. An alternative would be the roof terrace, as visualized before.

Well, it corresponds most closely to your wishes after all. The only remaining question is about the beams and the views.
