That’s all true... what is not true is that a general ban on single-family homes is part of [the Green Party’s platform].

So it is rather an overblown misunderstanding ...

if not officially part of the party program, there is nonetheless a party congress resolution and it is common sense both among the base and the boards. One simply does not want to provoke an outcry like back then with Veggie Day or the 5 marks per liter, and if not de jure then at least de facto to go in this direction through baton throwing and regulatory as well as building law.

So, you just fell for the author of the column, but it’s worth following such statements back to the source.
I just skimmed through the resolution protocol. It doesn’t say anything about banning single-family homes. Not even that construction should be made more difficult from a regulatory standpoint.
It says that sustainable building, the use of recyclates, land- and resource-saving construction and the repurposing of existing buildings should be promoted.
That’s a big difference.
The only thing I read that could really be interpreted in the rumored direction is the removal of privileged construction in outer areas.

It remains the case that things are often taken out of context and reinterpreted to engage in polemical rabble-rousing. That’s of course political everyday life. It’s sad that so many pied pipers are around, and even sadder that so many rats follow the music unfiltered. By the way, pied pipers come in every color, I want to say that upfront.

By the way, there is already a very long thread here about the single-family house topic, I can't link it right now on mobile.

That in election campaigns drama generally takes precedence over truth is nothing new.

The uncle of a school friend had, forty years ago – meaning back then it was still Deutsche Mark – a sticker on his car: "Allah is great, Allah is mighty, the liter of gasoline will soon cost one-sixty" :)

I haven't checked for quite a while whether it still exists.
