Well, you probably have a massive increase in consumption compared to a proper setting. And then you prefer to save on comfort, which probably doesn’t even remotely compensate for the extra consumption caused by the poor setting. Besides, the heat pump will break down faster... A somewhat odd but not entirely inappropriate comparison: It’s like driving a car with the handbrake half-engaged, flooring it repeatedly in second gear. But instead of releasing the brake, shifting two gears higher, and driving more smoothly, you’d rather be annoyed by high fuel costs and only drive 30 mph outside town to save fuel. And after a few years, you’re annoyed because the car has such high repair costs.The heating definitely wasn’t optimized.
